Consulting in person or via Telehealth. First get a referral from your GP or another specialist. Then you will need to book a consultation appointment with Dr. Yoganathan.

Bowel Cancer Screening

Individuals at “average risk” (general population) should start screening with a FOBT (stool test) at least once every two years from the age of 50. All Australians at the age of 40 years should talk to their doctor about the screening options to prevent bowel cancer.

Colonoscopy

A colonoscopy is an exam of the lower part of the gastrointestinal tract, which is called the colon or large intestine (bowel). Colonoscopy is a safe procedure that provides information other tests may not be able to give.

Dilatation of Oesophageal Strictures

An upper endoscopy, often referred to as endoscopy, EGD, or esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy, is a procedure that allows Dr. Yoganathan to directly examine the upper part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which includes the oesophagus, the stomach, and the duodenum.

Endoscopy

An upper endoscopy, often referred to as endoscopy, EGD, or esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy, is a procedure to directly examine the upper part of the gastrointestinal (GI) tract, which includes the oesophagus, the stomach, and the duodenum (the first section of the small intestine).

Flexible Sigmoidoscopy

Flexible sigmoidoscopy is a procedure that allows your doctor to examine the rectum and the lower (sigmoid) colon. The flexible sigmoidoscope is a flexible tube 60 cm long and about the thickness of your little finger.

Non-surgical Hemorrhoid Management

Modified dietary plans, steroidal and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory treatment or hemorrhoid band ligation, where a rubber band is placed at the end of the hemorrhoid.

Olympus Capsule Endoscope System

The Olympus High Definition Endoscopy System is used to carry out a range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including, gastroscopy, colonoscopy, and polyp removal.

Polyp Removal (endoscopic polypectomy)

During a colonoscopy (one type of colorectal cancer screening test) a doctor can find and remove any polyps in the large intestine. This is called a polypectomy. The removal of polyps causes no pain, and keeps cancer from developing.

Expansion of the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program

The National Bowel Cancer Screening Program (NBCSP) will expand in 2022. All Australians aged between 50 and 74 years will be offered free screening every two years, consistent with the recommendations of the NHMRC. The benchmark for a positive FOBT is currently a colonoscopy ‘within a month’ of test results. This is rarely met. This will place great strains on a system that is already at capacity. Dr Yoganathan aims to target this as an area of need, and provide endoscopic services.
